چکیده

The Diversity Multiplexing Tradeoff (DMT) [1] is a compact, yet elegant framework to capture the performance of wireless communication systems at asymptotically high signal to noise ratios (SNR). Recent application of DMT at finite SNR [2] makes the DMT a versatile framework. We have analyzed the DMT for the rate-adaptive SIMO maximal-ratio combining (SIMO-MRC) for asymptotic and non-asymptotic signal to noise ratios. This has resulted in arriving at closed form expression of the diversity gain. The DMT arrived by analysis using the non-asymptotic finite SNR framework is found to be consistent with the known interpretations arrived through the asymptotic high-SNR framework [1]. The results of this analysis have been presented in this paper.

FPGA Implementation of Generalized Maximal Ratio Combining Receiver Diversity

In this paper, we study FPGA implementation of a novel supra-optimal receiver diversity combining technique, generalized maximal ratio combining (GMRC), for wireless transmission over fading channels in SIMO systems. Prior published results using ML-detected GMRC diversity signal driven by BPSK showed superior bit error rate performance to the widely used MRC combining scheme in an imperfect ch...

Diversity-Multiplexing Tradeoff for Multi-Connectivity and the Gain of Joint Decoding

Multi-connectivity is considered to be key for enabling reliable transmissions and enhancing data rates in future wireless networks. In this work, we quantify the communication performance by the outage probability and the system throughput. We establish a remarkably simple, yet accurate analytical framework based on distributed source coding to describe the outage probability and the system th...

A Cooperative Uplink Transmission Technique With Improved Diversity-Multiplexing Tradeoff

In this paper a new Decode-and-Forward (DF) cooperative scheme is presented for half duplex uplink transmission. The technique is based on a virtual MIMO structure formed by the single antenna source and relays nodes along with a multiantenna destination node. The new technique aims at providing increased diversity and multiplexing gains, contrariwise to existing approaches in which increased d...

On the Achievable Diversity-Multiplexing Tradeoff in MIMO Fading Channels with Imperfect CSIT

In this paper, we analyze the fundamental tradeoff of diversity and multiplexing in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) channels with imperfect channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT). We show that with imperfect CSIT, a higher diversity gain as well as a more efficient diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) can be achieved. In the case of multi-input single-output (MISO)/single-input mu...

Diversity-Multiplexing Tradeoff in MIMO Systems

It is well known that there exists a tradeoff between the diversity gain and the multiplexing gain achievable by a particular MIMO coding scheme. In this report we first look at the optimal trade-off in the infinite signal-to-noise (SNR) regime of both Rayleigh independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) channels and a more general MIMO channel model. We then look at the tradeoff of both S...
